for comedians
The Cardboard Comedy Club was set up by comedian Kevin Passman (and his wife who is absolutely not funny but can almost manage to pour drinks) as a much-needed dedicated stand-up comedy venue. We aim to give comedians somewhere other than bar shows where they can practice their craft and develop, as well as test new material. The showroom was designed specifically for comedy, to give the best experience for both the audience and comedians (that's where the cardboard comes in - to help with acoustics). The Cardboard Comedy Club is a non-profit-making venture. All proceeds go into covering our very low running costs (don't worry, we run on the smell of an oily rag) and then paying comedians.Great! How can I help?
If you are a comedian, you can help out by:
- promoting the club to new audiences
- volunteering to help out with running the venue or promotional activity. Can I get a spot?
Interest is very high at the moment, so if you'd like a spot the best way is to go via the Auckland Comedy Community Facebook page. We also welcome enquiries about venue hireage.
